DESCRIPTION
Battle for Wesnoth is a turn-based strategy game, created with open-source programming tools. The game is continually in development, as online users can create and submit their own maps, units, campaign scenarios, and other content. Player armies are persistent and develop with experience and victory, similarly to character development in a role-playing game. In addition to the game's many single-player adventures, multiplayer battles are supported over the Internet. ~ All Game Guide

“+ + + + Universal priorities of one round which I use (some kind of tactical codex :)) + + + +
1 [know your enemy and friends, estimate your odds] scouting
2 [heal your wounds] retreating wounded units (except those with leveling up certainty)
3 [balance your forces] deploying rear line of the army on the map (matching enemy's units power)
4 [lessen morale of your enemy] eliminating enemy units with highest experience points, before leveled
5 [gain new skills] leveling up units with highest experience
6 [exploit weakness of your enemy] eliminating the weakest enemy's unit
7 [make progress or hold position] deploying first line of the army on favorable terrains with preservation of the formation forward nearest village or defend positions
8 [make proper reinforcements] recruiting new units (if necessary)”

“A joy to play, this open-source community effort is simple to play but can be extremely challenging to beat. The modding and development community are very active -- a bit bureaucratic but they've done great work so no complaints. ”
