“Icewind Dale 2 is my favorite game that was built on the Infinity Engine, while its better than Baldur's Gate I and II, its only flaw is that you prebuild your entire 6 man party and theres no interaction between them. They are personality-less drones you control. However the story and the Areas you explore in IWD I and IWD II are just gorgeous, the music is just perfect. Jeremy Soule did a perfect job on both soundtracks. As much as I liked Baldur's Gate 1 and 2, the whole 2nd edition D&D thing is a serious turn off after learning 3rd and 3.5 D&D. GOD... THAC0... ”

“I have to confess, I've put the game aside and I don't have much interest in going back to it.
I can't put my finger on it, but its not like Baldur's Gate II where I just couldn't stay away. Or NWN - even though it was buggy as hell, I was hooked when I played that.
I made a tank character first, and found fighting virtually impossible. I realised that my first companion was also a tank, and that this game was a cast-in-concrete HOLY TRINITY game, so then a made a stereotypical Healer.
I got all the way through to just before the final fight, and gave up. Too hard, and easy-mode was too degrading. So I started a third character, and got bored.
I really, really want to like this game. I can't bring myself to come back to it though. The classes are very linear, and getting ganked is typical and normal. Oh ya; I'm sure when Uber Twitch Kid plays his Fav character, he rips through the mobs like they aren't there.
My point would be that I want to be successful with ANY character.
BioWare should just remake Baldur's Gate - D&D rules set in The Forgotten Realms with a compelling story tied into that massive arch of the continent of Fearun. There is PLENTY there to do.
If it ain't broke, don't replace it.”
