DESCRIPTION

Ascendancy combines exploration, strategy and resource management in a game of galactic colonization with twenty-one different species to choose from, each imbued with a unique personality and special power. You also have the option to select from between two and six other races to compete against, in any given game.

Another option includes the choice of game size (based on star density) and the social atmosphere of the galaxy (hostile, neutral or peaceful). Victory in Ascendancy depends on your colonization skills, planetary management (industry, research, prosperity, and population), and ability to interact successfully with other species through diplomacy, war, or invasion. An online tutorial eases you into game control and management details.

The game uses a point-and-click interface and various display screens to monitor your progress, including the main galactic display from which the planetary, research, ship management, species, and star system screens are accessed. Ascendancy challenges you to strike a balance between factors such as aggressiveness, research (technological, weaponry, or ship building), and exploration.
