The popular series gets a major update with Armored Core 3 for the PlayStation 2. The game, which combines elements of the popular Armored Core 2 and Armored Core 2: Another Age with new material, has an important new feature: computer-controlled support mechs in single-player missions. Players can now choose to have other units provide backup.
Armored Core 3 provides the classic mech warfare the series is famous for, while expanding the story and available features. Using the "Garage" feature, players can view their options and customize the mech of their dreams. Over ten billion combinations are available — with all parts newly designed for this release.
Another new feature is the advent of the four-player arena. By connecting multiple consoles with the PS2 i.Link cable, up to four players can duke it out on the same battlefield and other monitors can be linked to showcase the action for spectators. As before, two combatants can also duke it out on a single split-screen. ~ Jeremy Lee, All Game Guide
