Taito Corporation's take on the Atari classic Breakout makes its debut on the DS, some 22 years after the original first graced arcades. Something of a classic in its own right, Arkanoid updated the tried and true ball and paddle formula by adding indestructible bricks, floating enemies, varied level arrangements, and falling power-ups. Square Enix (which purchased Taito in 2005) adds some flash to the original by providing single-cart multiplayer options for two or four, a new instant restart function so the action doesn't stop until the game is over, splashy visuals, and a rock soundtrack from Taito's sound team. ~ Christopher Brown, All Game Guide
