DESCRIPTION
This 2004 expansion to Funcom's sci-fi MMORPG Anarchy Online brings a new threat to the persistent world of Rubi-Ka. As the subtitle suggests, aliens from another world are attacking. Even the bitter enmity between the uber-corporation Omni-Tek and its independent-minded detractors pales in comparison to this menace; these interplanetary raiders attack all human beings in their way, regardless of faction or politics. Citizens must rise to the aid of their cities to stave off the invasion, or lose their world to the superior firepower and advanced technology of the alien invasion.
One of the most notable new features of this expansion pack instills an even greater motivation for players to protect their homeworld. Guild members who install the Alien Invasion upgrade will be able to build and maintain their own towns, constructing facilities that serve as both meeting places and fortresses against outside aggressors. Aside from a central headquarters for their group, players can also install radar towers, cloaking towers, and guard towers, all in an effort to even the odds against the insidious invaders.
In the face of this threat, even Omni-Tek associates and rebel clanspeople may choose to join forces, though some may forget past aggressions less quickly than others. All player characters will have a number of new social options at their command, however. In addition the protective tower facilities, players can add other fixtures to customize the streets of their town. They can also set up and run their own shops, and a new item search tool is designed to make trade between players more efficient and accessible. There are even a number of new clothing options, to let characters dress for nearly any occasion. ~ T.J. Deci, All Game Guide
