Comic book writer Benoit Sokal brings his imagination to the PC screen with his fanciful adventure Amerzone: The Explorer's Legacy, set in Central America. Based on a legend surrounding the existence of mystical White Birds that never touch land, you, as a young journalist from France, try to solve the mystery through exploration of an exotic jungle setting.
Many years before your involvement, a pair of explorers set off on a long and arduous journey to Central America to confirm that such creatures truly existed. One of the explorers became a feared and brutal dictator in the land itself, while the other discovered the giant birds' originating egg, stole it, and used the egg to further his own ambitions back in Europe. His peers accused him of perpetrating a ridiculous hoax and destroyed his budding career.
Now, moments before he expires, he beseeches you to correct his terrible mistake and return the egg to its rightful place. You must pull together the many pieces of the mystery the old man left behind to restore the cultural cornerstone of an entire race of Native Americans who have suffered greatly since their source of prosperity and eternal life was stolen.
Played from a first-person perspective, Amerzone features full 360-degree movement, offers more than 50 puzzles, and 200 exotic locations. The game showcases Sokal's artwork with graphical environments designed with Newtek's Lightwave 3D process, and relies almost exclusively on an intuitive point-and-click interface with a few keyboard equivalents.
Amerzone: The Explorer's Legacy's main emphasis is on deduction and puzzle solving rather than onscreen physical prowess and muscle. Get ready to face the many exotic creatures and hidden secrets of the mighty Central American jungle in this imaginary tale of intrigue. ~ Michael L. House, All Game Guide
