DESCRIPTION
American Conquest: Fight Back updates the original release of American Conquest with five new nations, eight campaigns, and 26 missions. Taking place between the years 1517 and 1804, the game has nations vying for power while maintaining the economic resources needed to sustain the war effort. In addition to the 12 nations found in the original release, players will now be able to choose from Germany, Russia, Haida (natives from Alaska), Portugal, and the Netherlands, with each nation having its own vested interest in the Americas. The returning nations have also been slightly adjusted for greater balance, with parameters such as the cost of units, attack power, and building time modified in different ways.
Players will experience a new mode entitled "Battles," which rids them of economic decisions in favor of real-time combat with up to 16,000 units. Each nation begins with a finite amount of resources that can be spent on whatever upgrades are deemed necessary before battle, so players can instead focus on the tactical aspects associated with war. Battles take place on pre-designed maps, with specific objectives to complete outside of the total destruction of rival nations. A series of ten missions are available in the Battles mode, all of which are playable alone against the computer or with up to seven players on a LAN or via Internet. Though it's considered an expansion pack, American Conquest: Fight Back is a stand-alone title that does not require the original game in order to play. ~ Scott Alan Marriott, All Game Guide
