I-Motion combined the Alone in the Dark titles into one game: The Alone in the Dark Trilogy, a compilation featuring all three previous series titles. In the first Alone in the Dark, you assume the persona of either detective Edward Carnby or Emily Hartwood, niece to the recently deceased Jeremy Hartwood to explore the Derceto mansion to unearth its secrets and horrors. In Alone in the Dark 2, you again take on the role of detective Carnby to rescue a little girl named Grace Saunders. This time, the action takes place in "Hell's Kitchen," a mansion claimed by gangsters and monsters. In Alone in the Dark 3, you, again as super sleuth Edward Carnby, head out west to the Mojave desert and a ghost town called "Slaughter Gulch," where a film crew has mysteriously vanished.
