DESCRIPTION
Alien 3: The Gun is an "on-rails" shooter built on Sega's System 32 hardware. While it shares some story elements with the 1992 movie on which it's based, the game features far more enemies than the film's single creature. Rather, two players face a whole host of alien creatures, from freshly hatched facehuggers to fully grown soldiers.
The game puts you in the role of a space marine whose job it is to hunt down the rotten xenomorphs in all of their vile forms. There are five levels in which you'll scroll forward, backward, and sideways through corridor-based areas. Along the way, you'll fight a number of different alien species, including boss characters such as giant facehuggers. Eventually, you find your way to the prison colony featured in the film, where your task is save the prisoners from a horde of alien attackers.
Alien 3: The Gun's chief draw is its attached weapon peripherals, which are easily some of the largest armaments ever to grace an arcade game. These fully automatic weapons are modeled after the actual machine guns used in the Alien films and possess a button that fire grenades. Scattered throughout the game are a number of power-ups to increase your firepower, including the universally loved flamethrower. ~ Jon Thompson, All Game Guide
