DESCRIPTION
Team Fortress 2 pits two rival construction crews against each other on six themed maps. Nine classes are available when forming a team: Pyro, Heavy, Spy, Scout, Sniper, Medic, Engineer, "Demoman," and Soldier. Each class offers unique abilities and equipment to complete objectives, from a medic's healing powers to a spy's disguises for eluding detection. Three play modes include Capture-the-Flag, Control Point, and Territorial Control. Unlike most online shooters, modes in Team Fortress 2 are tied to specific maps.
Capture-the-Flag involves retrieving a briefcase from the enemy's base before the opposition does the same. Control Point has teams maintaining control over four areas on a map, two of which are in contention, before one side can capture the rival team's base. Territorial Control features five contested areas, allowing for a more open play style. Team Fortress 2 is further distinguished by its distinctive, cartoon-like visual style as well as its detailed stat tracking. ~ Scott Alan Marriott, All Game Guide

“This is one of the best games i have ever played. Period.
Anyone who is even remotely enjoys FPS should give this a shot if they haven't already. The combination of fast paced team tactics and individual class play-styles rolled up in a quirky cartoony-yet-mature theme makes this game one of the most instantly rewarding and immersive experiences a person could experience aside from reaching Nirvana. Exaggerations aside, this game is SERIOUSLY that much fun. And as it ages, it just keeps getting better. Valve has done an excellent job of keeping maps and game types interestingly varied. You can choose from game types such as the classic capture the flag scenario, "deathmatch", territory control, king of the hill, payload, and more! The maps are even more varied as the playerbase is allowed to create their own maps and play them against others. So far this must sound like most other run of the mill online shooter, so whats the big deal?
The classes.
This is what sets this game apart from most others. The classes are broken into three different catogories; offense, defense, and support. Each catogories has a three different classes available. Offense has scout, soldier, and pyro. Defense has demoman, engineer, and heavy, and support has the medic, sniper, and spy. Each class has access to different weapons, movement speed, special abilities and unique playstyles. For example; engineers can build turrets to defend key locations or teleporters to help teammates get to the front line. Scouts are VERY fast but have low hitpoints, they can double jump and capture control points twice as fast as anyone else. Every class plays differently because of these differences, but it doesnt stop there! During the game, you can unlock extra items for certain classes to use, further changing how classes are played based on the equipment you are using! For example, a sniper's main weapon is, you guess it, a sniper rifle. This is a great long rang weapon and is ideal for picking off targets before they even see you. The alternative main weapon for the sniper is a hunter's bow. It carries much less ammo, shoots in an arc, and doesn't let you zoom in like the sniper rifle. However, it can be devastating in medium range in the hands of a sniper who knows how to use it.
I could go on and on about how great this game is at the risk of sounding like a fanboy. And the truth is that i probably am to some extent. Well, if thats a crime, lock me up. I just love this game.”
