DESCRIPTION
The 1000 Miglia is a thousand mile race that winds its way through the countryside of Italy. Dating back to 1927, this Iron Man marathon of automobile races was held annually as a way to prove the mettle of racers. For each car, a team of two drivers paired up so they could drive all day and night and take turns resting.
Racers were on their own for the entire 1000 mile race and had to rely on personal mechanical skills and available spare parts to repair the automobile if it broke down. If repairs couldn't be made, they simply dropped out of the race. Drivers who won the 1000 Miglia became legends overnight.
1000 Miglia is a 2D replication of those legendary races and features a third-person view from behind and above the car, similar to Sega's arcade game Out Run. Before a race begins, you can select actual racers from the era or create your own from scratch. Each racer is rated in three categories: driving skill, stamina and mechanical skill and has one preferred section of the course where he excels.
The creation process includes giving each racer a name, allocating a limited number of extra points to one or more of the three attributes and selecting a preferred section of the course. You can also assign which car you want to drive as well as the year of the competition. Finally, you can carry up to six spare parts for repair purposes including tires, fuel pumps, batteries, spark plugs, fan belts and more. ~ Kyle Knight, All Game Guide
