Guild Charter

Preface

This charter should be read and understood by all Guild members. If you have any questions or remarks do not hesitate to contact a Senate Member, Founder or the Guild Master.
Mission Statement

Hydraulic-Union is a Belatto guild on the Lumen server for RF Online’s Official server. Our focus is building a strong guild with good relationships through good recruiting and teamwork. We are currently looking for members of all classes who wish to positively contribute to our guild.
Organization

Leadership - Officers and Guild Master

The following is a list of requirements for the Officers and Guild Master:

  • Be Respectful - not only of the Guild Members, but of everyone that they meet in game.
  • Willing to help - Help out around the guild whenever you can.
  • Willing to listen - Help Guild Members with their problems and listen to new ideas.
  • Communicate - Talk in guild chat, communicating the problems and ideas that you've heard.
  • Knowledgeable - No one knows everything, but you should still be have a good knowledge of the game, if you are unaware or unsure of something don’t hesitate to ask.
  • Committed – Officers should be committed to the well being and advancement of the Guild.
  • Positive attitude - Officers are expected to have a positive attitude in guild chat and with the Guild Members. Doubts and concerns may be expressed to an officer or through the correct communication channels (e.g. forums).
  • Officers are role models for the new and younger members of the guild. Officers should act as we would like all Guild Members to act.
  • Abuse of the officers’ powers is not permitted. If you feel an officer is abusing their power, please inform the Guild Master.
Senate rankings are determined by overall CP (Contribution Points) Being in the top 4 CP ranking automatically makes you a member of the senate.

Ranks
  • Alt
The rank of Alt is assigned to anyone who already has a character in the guild. Alts must also be on the same account as your main character. Permission to join is required for all alternate characters, as we have a set amount of roster slots.
  • Member
To attain member status you must be a Hydraulic-Union member. This entitles you to make requests of the guild bank (from the guild leader or officer), and gets your priority help from the officers and Guild Master.
  • Employee
Employees are expected to be respectful and helpful in the guild. This constitutes anyone with a volunteered or appointed task, which materials and dalant will be provided in exchange for regular services. If you are an employee and do not wish to be so, simply inform someone and you shall not be called on for the task. It is assumed that employees are on a 100% volunteer basis, and are not locked in as service providers, and may decline requests at will. It is also expected that the Guild reciprocate costs, materials, or services in exchange for continued employment. Emplyoment also encompasses Chip War. Potion and MAU repair cost will be covered for regular participants, (providing the guild is able to cover that cost at the time).
  • Officer
Have the right to enforce disciplinary action. May kick members in extreme circumstances. Officers have full voting privledges within the guild.
  • Guild Master
The rank of Guild Master contains most of the rights and priviledges of a Race Leader. In addition, the Guild Master may veto any action put in place by officers. He is the only person that can change event schedules.
The Guild Master serves as long as he or she desires or in extreme circumstances may be voted out by Senate majority , and a successor will be named by all officers of the Guild.

Note that while the Guild has no formal democratic structure, the Guild Masters and Officers will take the wishes of the members into account whenever possible.
Recruitment

We recommend that new members read the guild charter, but it is not required. To join the guild, have the applicant simply tell an Officer or Guild Leader and let them know thier e-mail address.

Officers and fellow members should feel free to recruit new and active players, but before admitting them into the guild, make sure that this is a person you know/feel is fitting with our ideals and practices.
Communication
  • The main means of communicating with each other is the forum. Use them to tell the rest about your game experiences, to post screenshots, to form a party to do instances, to plan raids, etc. and to check for news from the Guild Master, Officers, or others. Check it often!
  • We expect our members to adhere to the forum rules.
  • We use TeamSpeak so we can talk with other guild members while in game. This speeds up playing and increases the success of partying. To use TeamSpeak you need a headset with a decent microphone and the TeamSpeak client which can be downloaded at www.teamspeak.com The info for the TeamSpeak server will be given to you in game or updated on the forum.
  • If you are unable to play for a while, or have a schedule change that effects how much you can play LET US KNOW.
I will not boot anyone who has told me that they are busy or having issues logging on.
Guild Events
  • Officers will organize events like Instance runs etc. It is expected that Members try to get as involved as possible with these events if they have characters suitable for them.
  • Guild events will be scheduled by Guild Officers and the Guild Master only.
Guidelines

Behavior
  • It is expected that all members of the Guild treat each other with respect.
  • Continuous use of so-called ‘leet-speak’ or foreign languages is not encouraged, try to use (standard) English in the guild channel. Bad language is tolerated, but if taken to excess or if members complain about it, the offender will be asked to moderate their language. Continued excessive swearing can ultimately lead to disciplinary action. Also bear in mind that our members come from different backgrounds and all ages races and sexes.
  • If you need help with item trading or other dealings in the guild, feel free to ask an Officer for assistance.
  • Cooperation is something we pride ourselves on. We wish this tradition to continue. It is not expected higher level characters give up too much time to help out the lower level characters, but a certain amount is expected of you. Help is always appreciated and reciprocated.
Partying Raids and Instances
  • Agree to a Leader. The Leader is the one who organizes the run as it progresses, he or she is not a dictator, remember you are supposed to be cooperating. However, listen to the leader if his requests are reasonable.
Picking a leader does not apply to official guild parties or raids as the leader will be picked by the Officers.
  • It is expected that all members of a party involving Guild Members behave in the spirit of the game.
  • Loot rules must be established before the group gets involved in the coming adventure. Examples of Looting Systems are: Need before Greed, Roll on BoE, Pass on BoP, DKP etc. Please discuss the matter extensively beforehand if there is the intention to use a “non-standard” system.
Loot rules for official guild parties will be determined by the Officers ahead of time.
  • Members are expected not to pick unnecessary fights with people from outside the Guild. However, should the behavior of an external person in a party/raid be utterly intolerable (e.g. ninja-looting, verbal abuse), all members are encouraged to stick together, and, if appropriate, to warn the Guild as a whole against these persons.
Resources
  • If possible, let all people in a party skill up on resources (multiple players can level from the same vein/herb etc.) and share the actual resources gathered (taking turns).
  • Items can be made available to the Guild under terms that the item owner deems fair and can be negotiated between members as they see fit. If necessary an Officer or GM can join in the negotiations on a channel to ensure that things stay fair. If especially rare or epic items are found members are encouraged to first find a potential recipient/buyer among our own members.
  • If an item is bought outside the Guild (Vendor, AH) or otherwise has caused the owner a cost it is considered only fair that the Member who receives that item repays the costs to the person making it available.
  • There is no reason why trading for profit amongst Guild members cannot happen, just be fair about things with each other. Trade skill items which can be made without a cooldown should be traded at cost; if the materials are supplied the item will be free. Members are encouraged, but certainly not obligated, to share looted items of relatively modest value for free.
  • If you have become the owner of an item through an in-guild exchange this does not give you the right to use it as you wish. If you say you will use an item another Member is about to give you for free then selling it at the AH immediately afterwards will be considered a serious breech of the Charter.
Disputes and Arguments between Members
  • We are all human and we will, at some point, disagree with each other. All arguments should be handled discretely. This means no spamming guild with insults, accusations etc. All arguments should be taking to private channels (email, PM's,) as soon as possible.
  • If a problem can not be resolved please bring it to the attention of the appropriate GM or Officers as soon as possible.
  • Under no circumstances are arguments to be carried on using the Forums. This causes more problems between Members and makes the Guild look bad. The same rule applies on IRC, Ventrilo or Teamspeak or any other place where the disagreement can be viewed publicly.
  • The GM and officers have the final word in any dispute between Members.
Sanctions

We are not a guild that wants to police its members. We hope to use this section only rarely, but any breach can be reported to the Guild Master and/or Officers who will deal with the matter.
  • The Officers are responsible for deciding how to deal with Members who break Charter rules.
  • Officers have complete freedom of action and can warn, fine (as reparations, in case of breaches related to money or items), demote or remove Members as they see fit. Immediate removal from the Guild will only occur in the gravest of circumstances. If possible, the breaches should be discussed by several Officers before the more severe measures of demotion or removal are taken.
  • Breaches by initiates will face a lower level of tolerance than those of full members; they may be removed without consultation if their actions make clear they don’t share the general guild spirit.
  • If problems are related to an item, the class of an item (rare, epic) will be taken into account.
  • The Guild Officers have the right to use their judgement concerning anything that is not covered in the Guild Charter.
Unforseen Amendments
  • As before, the Guild Master has the final say. An Officer is not allowed to deviate from this charter or enforce rules not explicitly mentioned herein without consulting the Guild Master first, except under extreme circumstances.
  • The Guild reserves the right to change the contents of the Charter at anytime it is deemed necessary to do so. Agreement between the Officers and Guild Master is sufficient for such changes.
I want it known that I listen and try to accomodate every single member in our guild. I do not make sweeping or random policy changes and will avoid using authority as much as humanly possible. I personally do not feel above you or in-charge of anything, but I built this guild, and as long as there are people who invested time and effort into building are confident in me, I will make my actions suit what is best for out mutual endeavor.

If I need direction, to listen for a while, or are making the environment hostile or difficult for you, by all means let me know and I will correct it as fast as I can.
