Announcement

Today is the first day of my EVE Online players group, Rydah's Place. It's based on my private channel on EVE Online where I talk to my friends, except I called it Rydah's Pub.

This players group is for meeting new friends, or brag about your accomplishments or the corporation you run or work for. All you need is a gamerDNA account to join this group.

This is not a corporation page: I don't work for corporations anymore (I'll get to that later), so it does not matter where you come from, as long as you play EVE Online. Just remember to show some respect for others while you visit. Just like a real pub, you can be shown the door out of here if you don't behave.

To get the ball going, I'll tell you a bit about myself.

First of all, I'm a guy playing a female character. I'm not weird or a cross-dresser. I just wanted to make a Lara Croft In Space since I love Tomb Raider and this is what I came up with.

I joined EVE Online on August 4th, 2010 and joined with a corporation called Grey and Co. The CEO and the members were really sweet to work with but I felt I was missing out on something. It took me about a month to figure it out, but it dawned on me that because EVE was a single realm shared by everyone, there was no limit to where I can go in this game universe. I was missing out on a lot of things. So, I packed up my stuff, quit Grey and Co., and set out as an independent player to open space. I ran missions, salvaged, sometimes stole from other people's wrecks (not to PvP, just to see if I could get away with it), and mined. All of that was fun to do, I suppose, but I found out there was real adventure in hauling. Yeah, that's right. I hired myself out to haul people's stuff.

Now before you take a dump on hauling, lots of players want haulers. One way to get into hauling is join a mining op and haul ore to station. I've done that a lot of times and made hundreds of millions of ISK in a short period of time. Another type of hauling is to be a transport runner for corporations at war. I've been hauling for Odatrik Integrated Solutions for nearly a month now because of a war they are in. You can read about their war here. I've been hired by a few warring corporations to haul frigates and ship modules to a secret location to be used later in war. This part of hauling I find very cool because you feel like you are playing a part in something really, really big, much bigger than you are. I feel like I'm a merchant marine ship during World War II. Awesome!

Hauling lets you get to see a lot of what the game universe looks like. You get to see what other races look like if you want to, though I tend to stick to Minmatar space. The only hauling I won't do is through lowsec or nullsec space.

I fly Mammoths. One I have can carry a lot of cargo (about 36K cubic meters) but is a little light on armor. I have another Mammoth that has a lot of shield extenders and armor on it but can only carry about 7K cubic meters. I use that one to charge gate camps. I've had a few lucky escapes I can tell you about where I was shot nearly to hull before CONCORD showed up, but the blue wrecks were worth it.

I also like to market flip, which means buy low and sell high. That does not make as good ISK as salvaging or hauling but it's like gambling. It's more for fun than anything else. I got five Mammoths out of flipping Mammoths over a period of time.

You could call me an industrialist or a carebear, but I don't try to label what I do. I just do what I want and have fun doing it.

That's all for me. I hope to hear from you soon!
