SoT originated in a small MMO called Rubies of Eventide, from a small, very close, core group of players. Several name changes and great owners later, we became Sands of Time. Many of our members have been around for several years. We are a very close-knit group of people who enjoy having fun. Our clan encompasses many different people. Some are married, some are in college, some have kids, but we all share a love of this guild. We are mature and silly at the same time, never taking much very seriously. We could not be happier with the quality of our members. They are helpful, courteous, and unselfish. It is essential that all potential SoT members share in what we have become. We are more interested in quality over quantity and if we find that you are causing trouble or going against everything that we have worked so hard to build, then you will be kicked out of the Kin. We will not stand by and let one person ruin our name. Please be sure to read the Charter.

NOTICE:

Member recruitment is now open again! We have implemented an application process. All potential members will need to complete this application before being considered. Please refer all interested players to Felamoth or myself.

Opinions Needed!

Hey kinnies!

I have been thinking of things that I can do to help our kin be more efficient. One of the things I think we can all benefit from is a new website. I was researching alternatives yesterday and happened upon a site that I hope you are all going to love.

It has many great features: A calendar of events that appears to be much smoother than the one we have now, which doesn't even work half the time. A kin bank feature, which will allow me to input all the items the kin bank currently has and that you all will be able to see. It also has a loot feature, which displays all the current loot that our members have acquired (I love this feature). It has an integrated DKP system, which I think we can modify for our Watcher runs. There are so many great things about this site. The best part is that it will be our own domain name (which Fela and I will pay for on a yearly basis), powered by Joomla, which means no more downtime or slow loading times. I also like the fact that it is LotRO made....with game backgrounds and features exclusive to us. I also believe there is some customization on a member level as well, such as your avatar.

Here is a link to No Quarter's site....they use this.

Here is a link to the features page and the pricing plan. We are looking at getting the 500MB plan, which is about $15.00/mo.

What we need to know is if there are any of you who would be willing to donate to help Fela and I cover the cost of this site because we also pay for the ventrillo server (thanks to those members who have donated to vent in the past). We are not asking for alot....even a dollar here and there will help.

Anyway, let me know what you think.....and if donations are possible. Fela and I are excited about it and think it can be a good thing for us.

Watcher Raid Loot System

Posted by Annovael on 07-Feb-09 04:48pm

After some discussion among officers about watcher loot and how it should be handled, we have decided on a loot system that we think will be beneficial to all.

For the Watcher, we are steering clear of the SK type system we ran for the Rift, since there are only 2 coveted drops from this raid. As all loot systems before, we realize that along the way we may run into unforseen problems, so be aware that this system may be subject to change. For those who have been with us from the beginning, I am sure you remember how many times the SK-type Rift system was changed over the course of its life. At any rate, we hope you all will like the new system and please feel free to post any questions you may have.

First off, let me start by saying that ALL 1st age drops will be set for open roll among those classes that NEED the drop. We will not be following this loot system for those since they are class specific.

The Watcher raid loot system will be ran as follows:

Raid attendance = 1 point (NOTE: To be eligible for this point, you MUST be in the raid for 2+ hrs.) You will only receive a point for each raid you attend, regardless of attempts during said raid.

Raid attendance for at least 1 hr = half a point (We implemented this to accomodate those who attend the raid, but are not able to stay all the way through b/c of parent aggro, spouse aggro, RL aggro, etc) Be aware that you MUST be in the raid for at least 1 hr though. Any time less than that will not merit any points.

Both Watcher drops will be assigned a point value of 6. When he is killed, those people with the highest number of points will open roll on the item. If you win said item, you will then lose 6 points and drop on the list.
Example: Say there is a raid that takes out the Watcher and 3 people have 8 points, 3 have 7 and the rest have 6. ONLY those with 8 points will be allowed to roll for the item, even though everyone has the number required to get the drop. Then, whoever wins the rolls will lose 6 points, taking them down to 2. Those who don't win the roll will keep the points they have for the next kill. This system is designed to reward those who are most faithful to the raid while at the same time, making it feasible for everyone to eventually get a piece.

Now I know SoT is close to bringing him down, so in the event that happens and no one in the raid has accumulated 6 points, then those with the next highest point value will get to roll on the drop. You will still lose the 6 required points, taking you down to a negative. So if you win the roll and you only have 4 points, you will then drop down to -2 points.

Please feel free to post any question you may have or send me or Aerdred a tell in game. We think this system has potential and hope it works as well in implementation as it does in our minds.

Class Quest Items (CD/Uru)

Posted by Felwen on 28-Oct-08 06:25pm

*edit*: Now that we're starting to get more peeps up to 50-ish lvls, I'd like to start to get CD/Uru groups organized.  We'll probably start soon after New Year's, so that way everyone can have a fun holiday and come back refreshed and ready to kick some backside in CD/Uru.

This will be a permanent thread which will allow all members of the kinship to post their toons which still need class quest items from CD/Uru, this will help to determine whom in the kinship needs said items, as well as a continuous list of people who would be available to go on runs. Have fun ya'll!
-Fel

If you see any of these peeps online, and you are deeding, CD/Uru runs, etc., please ask them if they need anything that you're killing, or ask them to come along with you on your runs.  Experience is never a bad thing to gain.
List of peeps who still need class quest items(including Uru/CD):
Aggriel (Minstrel alt of Staghorn)
Gauwron (Guardian alt of Xavric)
Gilion Captain
