Three Strikes System
Posted by Lash on 21-Jan-08 02:20am
As an extention of the new rules system, I am going to bring in a system of "Three Strikes & You're Demoted". Strikes are obtained through minor offences performed either to other
guildies or in the
public spotlight (i.e. Trade Channel and Others) and these demotions can reach as far as Exile if they need to.
The type of incidents that can result in a strike against your name is going to be generalised at the start, although if someone decides to mention things like "that is not a strike offence, it doesn't say so on the website" it will become more and more strict. Remember this list will change as the guild evolves and our demographics expands. Also note that a incident if deemed bad enough can result in more than one strike being recorded.
Striking Offences
- Making promises and not keeping them. If you promise to assist with something and do not follow through without advising the person, it may count as a strike against you. If you do have a time limit tell them thing like "I can help, but I have 1/2 until I have to go" in order to help them plan the event.
- Swearing or Abuse, we are fairly tolerant and hey I swear and most people naturally do, but swearing that is uncalled for and that is in anything but jest will mean a whisper from an officer asking you to please tone it down.
This is a work in progress and more is to come, but please all be respectful, help out and don't make me keep tightening things up. I hate having to do this sort of stuff to US ALL. After all I too have to answer if I break these rules.

Grouping Strategies
Posted by Lash on 14-Jan-08 02:47am
Group Makeup
When running higer level instances/raids, it is generally advisable to consider the makeup of the group. Generally a group is made up of:
- Tank, Basically someone with the ability to hold "aggro" and sustain a lot of damage through high armor/resistance/dodge/parry/hit points, usually feral druids, some warriors and paladins.
- CC (Crowd Control) is the ability to render an enemy incapacitated in order to break down the size of a battle (It is not uncommon to CC a battle of 5 to break it down into 5 battles of one), abilities such as Sap for Rogues, Sheep for Mages, Ice Trap for Hunters and Seduce for Warlocks.
- DPS (Damage per Second) is the ability to deal a LOT of damage very quickly, generally DPS members also have some CC ability and can include all classes if geared correctly with a matching talent tree.
- Healer, the name explains it all, generally preists/paladins/druids they MUST be specc'd correctly. i.e. NOT all preists are healers, they do have healing abilities, but not adequately to hold up a group in a major battle. Watch out for "Healers Aggro", when you heal people you do agravate the enemy just as much as if you actually did punch them in the face.
Staying Alive
Tanks and Healers are what keeps the party going, their deaths have the following effect:
- Tank - when the Tank goes down, the enemy will start attacking those who have generated the most agro, and without that one person minimising damage, the party will go very quickly, remember in order to do DPS effectively, you do sacrifice things like armour and resisitances sometimes. You may think 5K or 10K armour is a lot, but there are a LOT of tanks out there with 20K+ armour.
- Healer - when the healer goes down, the tank may hold up, but without major support it makes the tanks life tougher, and staying a live becomes more paramount than holding aggro.
Building Blocks of a Group Battle
The following is copied from http://electronics.howstuffworks.com...ner-guide7.htm
Here's how a five-person group can use these tools to move through an instance:
- The group leader marks the mobs with raid icons and tells the group which icon stands for which action.
- Players with crowd-control abilities CC their designated mobs before or immediately after the fight starts, depending on their particular skill.
- A designated player attacks a mob that isn't under crowd control to start the fight. This is known as pulling. Another option is to allow players with crowd-control abilities to pull the group by using their crowd control, but the tank has to act quickly to protect the pulling player.
- The group's DPS allows the tank to build threat, or get aggro, before attacking. The DPS will either use their assist macros to assist the tank or move from one icon to the next, killing one mob at a time before moving on to the next one. The DPS works as quickly as possible without generating too much threat and pulling the aggro off the tank.
- The healer uses healing spells that will keep the party alive without generating too much threat.
- When all of the mobs are dead, the group distributes all the loot and allows caster classes to recover their mana before pulling the next group.

Installing Mods/Addons
Posted by Lash on 12-Jan-08 05:00pm
To install an Addon into WOW, follow the following steps (this is a direct copy of the instructions from the following link,
http://www.wowinterface.com/forums/faq.php?faq=install
1. Download your chosen interface
2. Extract the files to a folder on your desktop.
3. Open your WoW folder.
If using a PC, the
typical default install path is:
C:\Program Files\World of Warcraft
If using a Macintosh, the
typical default install path is:
Macintosh Main HD (or whatever you renamed it to, if you did)/Applications/World of Warcraft
4. In the WoW folder, create a new folder called Interface (if it doesn’t already exist)
5. Open that folder, create another one inside it, called AddOns (again, if it doesn’t already exist)
6. Open the AddOns folder
7. Copy the files from the folder on your desktop into the AddOns folder
8. Your final path should look like:
PC:
C:\Program Files\World of Warcraft\Interface\AddOns\< ModAFolderName >\< files >
C:\Program Files\World of Warcraft\Interface\AddOns\< ModBFolderName >\< files >
C:\Program Files\World of Warcraft\Interface\AddOns\< ModCFolderName >\< files >
Mac:
Macintosh HD/Applications/World of Warcraft/Interface/Addons/< ModAFolderName >/< files >
Macintosh HD/Applications/World of Warcraft/Interface/Addons/< ModBFolderName >/< files >
Macintosh HD/Applications/World of Warcraft/Interface/Addons/ < ModCFolderNaem >/< files >
(where < ModAFolder > < .B. > < .C. > are the names of the actual folders that the mods create)
9. Log into game. At the character select screen, there should be an "AddOns" button in the lower left corner. Click on that. If any of the mods in the list that pops up say "out of date" or some such, choose the "Load Outdated AddOns" option.
10. Log the rest of the way into game, you should be up and running now.

Because no-one is using it at the moment I can't really say how useful it is, but hey if u guys who don't mind running mods can try it it'd be great.
Guild Help can be gotten at:

Guild Charter
Membership Guidelines and Bylaws:
A guild is a like-minded group of players coming together for the purpose of having a good time. For some, that good time is only achieved by mastery of the game and the domination of other players as well as the environment. Others are just looking for the modern equivalent of the corner bar. But the point is ultimately to enjoy yourself, and help the other members have as much fun as possible.
As a member of this guild, we ask that you do the following. If you do not think you can hold to these guidelines, please do not accept the terms and go your way in peace. If, after joining you feel that other members are not following these guidelines, please contact the guild leader.
1. Remember this is a game, we are all here to have FUN. Don't be a jerk to the other members, We are here to have fun. we don't mind, in fact, we encourage some light hearted banter. If it becomes offensive, please contact one of the ranked officials and we will arrange a way to discuss this further without alienation of anybody.
2. When events are scheduled, show up fifteen minutes early. If you can't attend an event, please let the guild leader know as far in advance as possible.
3. We do promote the usage of some addons, this is not compulsory, but it will assist in some aspects of gameplay. Please see the Addons section of the forums for addons that others are using and/or suggesting
4. These rules are open for amendment, any major amendments will posted to this site and are open for discussion. Please see the Rules forum fo a comprehensive log of any changes and or discussion regarding such things.
