Charter

<Chain Reaction> Guild Charter

Chain Reaction is, first and foremost, a raiding guild.  We like raiding.  However, we also like doing other things, so our raiding is done on a very light schedule and focuses on ten man content.  Currently, that schedule is 8pm-11pm Tuesday and Thursday, server time.  Leadership may introduce a third raid time, if deemed necessary to maintain progression.

While we are generally a mature bunch, from time to time degeneracy is hilarious.  While the gutter is a fine place for humor, it is expected that the tone remain jovial, and that the boundaries and sensibilities of the membership be respected in general.  This is no place for minors, as they may be exposed to topics and language which is best left for adulthood.

CR operates as a team, not a set of individuals who happen to show up at the same time.  Selfishness is a trait that has no place, and will not be tolerated.  This is especially true in the realm of loot. We seek it to advance the group so we can take on harder challenges, not for personal gratification.

We aim to have a small set of raiders, in order to maximize the effectiveness of every drop and to minimize the number of members who ride the bench.  Attendance is very important to this - the higher the attendance is, the smaller we can keep the roster.  Leadership would appreciate fair warning on any upcoming extended absence, so that arrangements can be made so raids continue without interruption.

-Raids:

Being on such a light schedule, raids are run with efficiency in mind.  Pulls are fast, rest is infrequent.

Not only does this result in more progression per hour of raiding, but it turns mundane trash into a meaningful challenge.

If you need to go afk at all the time for this is during trash excessive afk’s will no longer be tolerated. Raid time is just that, a time to get raiding done excessive afk’s not only waste your time but the time of the whole group. It is a matter of common courtesy that you waste as little of others time as possible.

- Signups:

The in-game calendar system is used for raid invites.  They usually go out shortly after the previous raid, giving members a few days to accept or decline.  It's a courtesy to the raid leader to have your status sorted out at least a day before the raid, so composition can be decided without being rushed.

- The Bench

It's a rare day where we have exactly as many people on as we need to raid, which means some people will be on the bench.  While leadership does its best to be fair about who gets benched, that cannot get in the way of putting together a viable raid group.

While on the bench, it is expected that the member will be available via an easy communication channel should their presence be required.  As much warning as possible will be given, but it is expected that the member will respond to a call in a timely manner.

Website is Dying

Posted by Sabian on 01-Oct-10 12:52pm

for those of you that can see this our website is dying a slow death.  Not due to anyone not using it but due to Crispy buying out GamerDna and laying off all of the developers and support staff that kept things up and running.  I will begin to search for a new site provider in the next few days.

Patch 4.0.1 on the PTR

Posted by Sabian on 12-Sep-10 11:09am

Ok... People wanted so stuff posted as it has been quiet around here the past few weeks.  Well here you go.  Patch 4.0.1 has hit the PTR...  I would expect it to be there for at least a month before it hits live and then the Cata release to be another month after that.

From MMO:

Patch 4.0.1 now on Test Realms
Patch 4.0.1 is now available on test realms (=not beta, the regular test realms). People who aren't in the Cataclysm beta yet can now test most of the Cataclysm features, aside from anything requiring leveling.

This is basically the exact same build as Cataclysm Beta, just without all the Cataclysm-only stuff. Old world changes, new quests, etc ... are NOT AVAILABLE, but will be available on live realms for people without the expansion after it's deployed.

Basically, on the test realms:

  • Classes changes are up, new talent builds, new glyphs (not fully implemented yet), etc ...
  • Revamped old zones are NOT available
  • New graphics (textures, water effects) are NOT available
  • Archaeology is NOT available
  • Guild leveling is NOT available
  • Flying in Azeroth is NOT available
  • New content is NOT available

I think that's enough to answer 95% of the questions about this.

General
  • Copied Test Realm characters are not copied with their achievement history in order to better facilitate the character copy process.

Classes: General
  • Many class talents, spells, and abilities have been overhauled, added, or removed.
  • All spell and ability tooltips will now display damage averages rather than minimum and maximum damage potential. This feature is on by default but can be changed via the Display settings under User Interface options.
  • Ammo has been removed from the game.
  • The character levels at which classes gain new spells and abilities have changed.
  • Many item and class stats have been changed or removed.
  • Rage has been normalized.
  • Spells and abilities no longer have multiple ranks and now scale with character level.
  • Talent trees have been altered. All player talent specializations have been reset, allowing for free re-specialization.
    • Each specialization has been reduced to a 31-point talent tree.
    • Players will now get a total of 41 talent points to spend.
    • Players will be asked to choose a specialization at level 10. Doing so will result in the unlocking of a spell or ability unique to that specialization, as well as one or more passive bonuses.
    • Once a talent specialization has been chosen, players may only place points in the primary tree until at least 31 points have been spent there.
    • The initial announcement regarding these talent tree changes can be found on our Cataclysm forum: http://forums.worldofwarcraft.com/th...26290449&sid=1

Death Knight (Forums / 3.3.5 Talent Calculator / Cataclysm Talent Calculator / Beta Skills/Talents)

Profession Epics

Posted by Sabian on 13-Aug-10 10:12am

Here are some of the crafted epics that are in beta right now. Hopefully many of these will make the cut for release.  Engineer's can finally make Bows and Xbows.... Woot....

Alchemy
Apparently, Alchemists will finally get another epic stone in Cataclysm. That's also where you realize how useful Mastery Bonus is, the item is just great for everyone.

Blacksmith get all the happy-fun-stuff again and will create the weapons that a lot of people will use when they start raiding. Don't expect them to be easy to craft.
