Kin Storage.

Posted by Essjeyeff on 13-Jan-08 08:31pm

As my new role of kin house manager I would like to say that your donations to the kin have been very kind and are much appreciated. To gain some control over the storage (as we are now at maximum) I am going to suggest the following guidelines.

I'm sure you are all aware by now that my alt "Rfi" is permanently based at the kin house and serves to offer a contact point and additional storage. Please feel free to send kin house upkeep donations and storage donations to this character.

I will now be setting these guidelines for usage of the storage. We will only be keeping in storage the following categories of items;

  • Single use crafting recipes
  • Legendary books
  • Stackable crafting mats (ie wood, hides, ore etc)
  • CD and Uru class quest items
  • High level critted armour, weapons, crafting tools, and jewellery
  • High level crafting scrolls
Hopefully with these guidelines we can gain control over the storage.

Now, I will explain the thinking behind the exclusion of certain items.
Recipes - we have decided to only keep single-use recipes in storage as the number of recipes is currently to large. Non single-use recipes can easily be picked up from the AH and most of the time for very little.

Legendary pages - again, the storage of pages was too large so we made the decision to just keep books to give kinnies a kick start on their legendary trait quests. The second reason for this will be explained in the class quests section. Although these will not be kept in storage, we have decided that a storage alt name Rfipages (a Candy alt) shall keep hold of pages for the time being.

Armour/weapons/low level scrolls - we feel keeping these in storage doesn't really benefit the kin unless they are high level items.

Class quest items (non CD/Uru) - There was much debate through the officers over storing class quest items and we have decided just to keep any class quest items which are exclusive to CD/Uru which are obviously not BoA. The main reason for this (which is the same reason behind legendary pages) is that we don not want to boost people through the game. This may sound harsh, but we think players will appreciate things more if they earn them. We do not want to be a kin who gives you everything, you will enjoy things more and feel more proud if you go out and earn the things you get. We have no problem giving a head start, but, and I say this through experience, you will ultimately feel more proud if you went out and earnt the class items and pages yourself, or even bought some things from AH.

And, finally, with regards to the crafting mats storage. We feel helping people level their crafting will ultimately benefit the kin. We will gratefully accept donations of raw crafting mats, which we can offer out to help level kinnies crafting. With this, I mean we will accept untreated wood, ore etc, which we can then offer out for people to treat, or smelt to level that area AS LONG as the resulting mats are then given back to storage and can be used for crafting. This is a bit of a "shades of grey" rule at the moment as we will monitor how it pans out.

So, all I have to say now is thank you for reading this, you can donate ANYTHING you wish to "Rfi" and anything which does not go into storage will be sold and will go towards paying upkeep on the kin house

Kinship Officer roles and responsibilities

Posted by Lopipi on 13-Jan-08 04:27pm

All,

Following the elections back in December, Candy and the officers have been discussing the roles and responsibilities of the kin executive, and have provisionally agreed on who does what.

As you may have already seen, I have been named as the kin successor and Candy's executive officer (i.e. kin second-in-command). Candy and I have agreed to split the leadership roles between us, with Candy in charge of overseeing recruitment, web-related stuff and being our front to the public. I am in charge of events oversight, bossing you lot around , generally being organised and whatever else crops up. Both Candy and I are also responsible for any disciplinary matters that may arise.

Blaize and Throbbi are jointly responsibly for arranging events for the kin (together with myself). This will include, for example, events based around the instanced areas, book runs, PvMP, Carn Dum, Urugarth etc.

Throbbi and Frappy will also be responsible for arranging multi-fellowship raids, raid assistance, high-level recruitment and alliance liaison. A quick note on this: we are forming alliances with a few other kin with the intention of permitting them to join our raids if we can't fill all slots, and vice versa. More on this from Throbbi, Frappy or Candy at a later time.

Elatar has yet to confirm responsibilities, but it is envisaged he will share in the roles described above for Throbbi and Frappy.

Finally, Essjeyeff will be responsible for all aspects of housing and storage, including keeping vault arranged, arranging events to give away stuff from the vaults (e.g. the trade fayre), and managing our Senior Members (just Jaerdor at the moment, but watch this space for more positions being advertised).

All officers and the leader are responsible for general recruitment, offering help when we can, and setting an example to the rest of the kin. Oh, and remembering to leave some time to enjoy playing the game ourselves.

So, in brief:

Candy: Leader, Recruitment Oversight, PR and Web Presence
Lopipi: XO, Events Oversight, Generally Being Organised and Sucessoring(?!)
Blaize: Events
Throbbi: Events, Alliances
Frappy: Some High-level events, some high-level recruitment, Alliances
Elatar: To be confirmed.
Essjeyeff: Housing, Storage, Managing Senior Members, Trade Fayre

The officers are here to help whenever we can, and we are making a big effort in taking this kin forward, hopefully improving everyone's enjoyment of the game. We hope you feel the leadership are delivering on our promises to lead and help.

If you have any questions, please let me know.

Regards,

Lopipi.

P.S. The officers are also players and sometimes like a little time to themselves to enjoy the game. Please bear this is mind. Cheers.

Kinship rule change: Inactivity

Posted by CandyRFI on 02-Jan-08 12:40pm

The Officers have unanimously agreed a change to the Inactivity Limits for the Kinship.

From January 15th, the inactivity limit will be reduced to 40 days. Any character which has not been logged in for this period will be removed from the Kinship. If you return to the game, you can request re-admission to the Kin. A mail will also be sent to the removed character so if they return within 2 weeks (before the mail expires), they will be informed of the removal.

New Rule: Officer Inactivity. If any officer character does not log on for 20 days, they will lose their officer status.

In either case, you can inform the Kinship of foreseen absences longer than the limits given above and we will keep your seat warm.

Code of Conduct for GW/LOTRO

Posted by Elatar on 06-Dec-07 11:06pm

Have tried to broaden its scope to cover GW, but been a few years since I played so any specifics that need to go in please let me know.

Still needs to be ratified and open to any comments;

Why "Room For Improvement"?

Because no matter how experienced you are, there's always something more you can learn. And no matter how new you are to GW/LOTRO, there's always something you can teach someone else. RFI is founded on the idea that members can and will help each other to develop both in- and out- of game.

Ethos

The Guild/kinship is run democratically.

RFI is a Guild/kinship run for the members by the members. No one here is set above anyone else and no contributions will buy you any automatic benefits or status. We value all our members equally.

All members are expected to contribute to the kinship in some way. This could be as little as posting the odd message on the forums or simply saying "Hi" on the kinship chat in-game.

Those serving as Leader or Officers are expected to do just that: serve the membership. They will manage admission, run the forums, recruit actively in- and out- of the game, resolve disputes and arrange events and competitions.

Focus

RFI is primarily a PvE kinship. PvE stands for Players versus the Environment and is a term used for playing the missions, exploring the world and seeking for treasure. As such, we will strive to provide help for players going through these challenges. This help will take many forms including teaming up to help players through difficult missions, advising on builds & skills and running events and competitions.

New Members

Anyone can apply for membership of the Guild/kinship. Potential members should post a message in the forum and create an account. In most cases, acceptance will be pretty much automatic but all memberships will be provisional for the first 4 weeks and may be revoked by unanimous decision of the Officers at any time. After one month, members will only be ejected as detailed below. Members are, of course, free to leave at any time.

Within LOTRO, new members will initially be given “Recruit” status. Full “Member” will be granted following 2 weeks membership within the kinship, at least 1 post on the RFI forums (even just to say hello!) and subject to adherence to the Code of Conduct.

Ejection from the Kinship.

It is hoped that it will never be necessary to kick someone from the Guild/kinship. Should it become so, members can raise matters for consideration by the Officers and they will decide whether to remove a player from the Guild/kinship. This decision must be unanimous. The only reason that this is not to be put to a vote before the membership is that time may be of the essence to prevent damage to the Guild/kinship’s reputation. For minor transgressions in LOTRO, the penalty may be the demotion to “Recruit” status, with clear instructions on how to achieve “Member” status in a given time frame.

Code of Conduct.

RFI is a Guild/kinship for players with a mature outlook. It must be recognised that whilst most of us are adults, some of us do have impressionable children around. As a result, all chat on the Guild/kinship channels should be kept clean. Please.

RFI is an honest Guild/kinship. Members are expected to play fair, be true to their word and honour their promises. There is no room here for Scammers or Cheats. See the following Code of Conduct for a more explicit description of what is expected of RFI members. ...
