Roster

Posted by faksnima on 13-Apr-09 06:09am

This list is tentative. Not all spots are filled. This list WILL change through the upcoming weeks. It is designed to give people an idea of where they stand in terms of raid spots. This list is based on overall skill and performance, attendence, attitude, and cooperation. Like I said...this list WILL change due to some people being away, some newer people proving themselves, and some spots which are just NEEDED in a 25-man makeup.

Tanks: Faksnima (Paladin), Freakdawg (Druid), Knytemare (Death Knight), X (tbd).

Healers: Vanity (Priest), Tiffiny (Paladin), Remixsy (Druid), Shocktoface (Shaman), Intropi (Priest), Hosiah (Priest), Xbloodknight (Paladin), Ebonn (Druid). We have quite the list of healers. Some of these healers will be asked to sub out for DPS or have a dps offspec for fights that do not require this many healers.

Mages: Xaris, Betareybill, Vozsidius, X(TBD). Our other mages have not been consistent or are too new for discussion.

Warlocks: Sedela, Evelash

Druids: Wintermaul (Boomkin). Other dps druids have not shown enough consistency or are too new for discussion.

Rogues: Combos. Other rogues have not shown enough consistency or are too new for discussion.

Priests: Pheebull

Warriors: Tremendous (Fury), Elitesam (Fury). We have other warriors that are new or are proving themselves. This area will see changes soon.

Paladins: Shima

Death Knights: Elitekek, Elitebull.

Hunters: Chunkiebutt, Seaborn, Akuodin.

Shaman: Yesplease, Tendsha. Other shaman are too new and are currently under evaluation.

If you are not on this list it may be due to one of several reasons:

1) You haven't attended as many raids as is liked.
2) You show up at will and leave at will at the compromise of 24 other people.
3) You are a newer member and are still under evaluation.
4) It was an oversight on my part.

If you feel like you deserve to be in the company of these on the list, please feel free to pst me or send me an in game mail and we will discuss it.  Two weeks into Ulduar a 25-man core list will be fairly permanent. Those who are not on it will be placed in a Member rank and will be alternates. What this means is when fights are no logner progression, these members will be brought in for these fights provided they show the skill, competence, and composure to execute their spec properly.  If you are NOT a raider rank come Ulduar I am expecting you guys to be doing 10 mans during our 25s and to be getting in on 10 hard modes asap. Afterall 10 hard mode > 25 regular in terms of loot.

Updates

Posted by faksnima on 07-Apr-09 05:02pm

As you can see I have not updated the site in months.  This post will update some of our accomplishments and policies.

Ranks
As of late we've felt that the fact that over half of a 25-man raid can access officer chat gave rise to the old saying "too many cooks in the kitchen." In order to avoid too many voices that may detract from guild direction, we have consolidated the Class Leader position into either loot council, recruiter, or officer based on our judgement. Additionally proper demotions were made to people that have little time to play (be it important work/life related or just boredom).  Additionally the reason that the Loot Council was lowered from over 8 to only 4 is because we had too many voices. The new rankings and descriptors of power are as follows.

GM: Obviously the head of the guild. The GM(s) will direct general guild direction. In order to maintain stability, however, the GM(s), will not solely, in most circumstances, control loot distribution, recruiting, promotions, demotions, and removals. Officers will help maintain that role. The GM is the only rank that can remove a person from the guild. If you have any questions or concerns about an Officer member, please send these to the GM.

Officer: This rank deals with the major ongoings of the guild. Officers have a vote in council (with GMs and Loot Council) and have administrator abilities in ventrilo. Officers may run Raids in place of GMs when GMs are not present. Additionally Officers may plan raids in advance, form mini-groups such as 10-man groups, and manage guild utilities such as consumables, flasks, etc... and their application within raids.  In raids, Officers will be the only voices, besides the GMs, to be heard when on a progression encounter of significant difficulty. Any general questions about guild ongoings should be discussed with an Officer.

Recruiter: This rank is responsible for filling in the needs of the guild as designated by GMs and Officers. They, along with Officers and GMs, are the only rank that can recruit into the guild.  They do not have a vote on loot distrubtion and their overall power is limited to recruitment and suggestions for demotions and promotions.

Loot Council: Members of this rank may view and talk in officer chat and make recommendations regarding loot distribution. Their vote, along with GM and Officer votes, will determine in most situations to whom a drop goes to. They have no powers to invite, demote, or promote any player to the guild.

Raider: This rank gives priorty to raid spots when decisions between raider and member, initiate, and alt are under consideration. Additionally raiders will almost always be selected for progression encounters over other ranks.

Member: This is a friend of a gulidie or a casual raider or a person that is no logner performing at a level that is satisfactory.  One may move up from member if they seek to raid. Friends who wish to stay casual will stay at this rank

Initiate: This is a rank for those who have joined the guild with intentions to raid. This is a trial rank. Passing this rank will almost always lead to a Raider rank unless we are in need of alternates.

Accomplishments
*
Congratulations AoW for clearing all 10 and 25-man content!

Raiding:
*
As you all can see our little guild is growing big. Come ulduar we will have tons of people seeking raid spots. The first few weeks will determine core people and alternates. If you are deemed an alternate your job is to get more familiar w/ the content, your class and spec, and overall raiding dynamcis through 10-man ulduar. This will allow you to get geared and ready when you're called upon.

*No raids should be pugged outside of the guild (this includes 10s/25s/and the new vault).

*Raid times will be changed and condensed to Tuesday-Thursday, Sunday 8pm-12am. Monday will be an optional night.

Loot Distrubtion
*
Loot distribution was handled very lax towards the end of this current content. In Ulduar we will handle it much more stringently. Here is the hierchy on the following Tier pieces of loot.

Tank > Healer > DPS

This is done to help allow further progression as many WoTLK fights are NOT dps races but fights where survivability is key.

There is also the issue of the epic healer mace. That will also have a hierarchy which is currently pending. At this point in time, based on current personnel, the mace will go iin a rotation that will go to one of each of the healer classes before rotating back around. Ex: Druid - Preist - Paladin - Shaman.

This site will now be updated at least once per week. Login to see the ongoings of the guild and it's policies. If you have any questions or concerns please pst Faksnima in game or send an in-game mail.

Congratulations!

Posted by faksnima on 28-Dec-08 01:19am

Good Job guys. Ashes of War is heading into it's second month with several raid encounters down.

*Cleared 10-man Naxx
*Cleared 10-man OS
*Cleared 10-man Malygos
*Cleared Arachnid and Plague Quarters in Heroic Naxx.
*Cleared Heroic OS

Great job guys! As we're beginning to find our identity I'm going to ask that we do a few things to keep raiding fluid and consistent. This guild is unique in the fact that as we stand, right now, we have several people that have crazy schedules. The beauty of it is that those who can only make sunday and monday raids have replacements by those who can only make weekday raids.  In order to give me a better idea with regards to raid attendence and to begin sculpting out our 25-man raiding core, I will need you guys to do a few things for me.

*1: I will schedule raids a week or over in advance through the built-in in-
game calendar. Accept if you can make the day and decline if you can't.  This automatically lets me know who says they can show up to a certain raid night.

*2: If you accepted and you can't make the raid, no sweat. Just send me an in game mail telling me you can't make it. I don't need to know specifics .

*3: Pay attention to the GMOTD.  Most of you guys are not and tend to be like "wtf is going on". Please pay close attention as it changes.

That's it for now guys. Great job again!

AoW - Purpose and Rules

Posted by faksnima on 14-Dec-08 02:40am

Hey guys. I'm using this space to outline the basic purposes, rules and guidelines for this guild.  Ashes of War is a progression guild oriented at downing 25-man content. However, we wont do this at the sacrifice of fun and fairness. In order to achieve these goals I am placing the following guidelines.

No Pugging Progression Raids: A progression raid is defined as a Raid that AoW is currently struggling with or hasn't placed on farm yet. The following are exceptions to the above rule:

*Vault of Archavon, 10 and 25 man, is allowed to be raided at anytime by any guild member. You can pug this raid.

*If you cannot make our raid times for any reason and you would like to see the content, speak to your CL or Officer and we can allow you to go ahead and run it without the guild.

*If a raid is not on the schedule, tenative or otherwise, or is mentioned to be a possibility by an Officer feel free to pug it.

*For any other questions regarding pugs speak to your CL or Officer.

*You may NOT pug a raid, even if given permission, during guild raiding times. If you are available we'd like you here and ready to go .

*Breaking this rule will result in a demotion. Multiple offenses will result in removal from the guild.

Arguing in GChat:

*Should you have a disagreement with a member in the guild, please keep them in whispers. If this does not resolve the problem, please speak to an officer.

*If you have a problem with an Officer/CL, please, again, keep the conversation in whispers. If it's unable to be resolved, speak to me (faksnima).

*Please do not urge or push to raid content that is scheduled on off nights or attempt to get together a progression raid otherwise. Progression raids are run by officers at scheduled times or with their discretion. During off nights feel free to pug a non-progression raid.

TENATIVE SCHEDULE FOR 12/14 - 12/23 (Subject to Change)
*Sunday 5:30 - 7:30: Group 1 (Faks) finishes Naxx.

*Sunday 7:30 - 12:00: Possible 25 man Naxx/OS or 10 man OS/EoE

*Monday 7:30 - 12:00: 25-man Naxx/OS or 10 man OS/EoE

*Tuesday 7:30 - 12:00: Guild Vault followed by 25 Man Naxx.

*Wednesday 7:30 - 12:00: 25-Man Naxx.

*Thursday 7:30 - 12:00: 10 or 25 Man OS / 25-Man Naxx.

*Sunday 12/21 5:30 - 12:00: TBA

*Monday 12/22 7:30 - ??: Clean Up/Off Night

This Schedule is subject to change. For most up to date schedule information, the guild message of the day is your best bet.
