A note on the Kin.

Posted by Bekk on 23-Apr-09 04:23pm

In the year and a half that The Kindred's been around we've had mostly good times. Raiding, questing, running dungeons, chatting in guild chat — The Kindred bloomed quickly in the beginning gathering more than 300 players. We've had some great players and people. Helping us succeed, Delirium and his guild The Maidens of the Dawn can't be thanked enough for their support.

Over the past few months, membership has been waning. Some move on to greener pastures for more experiences, some move on to friends' guilds. Many times over the past month or so, I've logged on and been the only guildee online. Some of the decrease can be contributed to my brother and I's lack of interest in leading a guild anymore. It takes time and patience to push toward success, but more than that, it takes heart and personally speaking, my heart's just not in guild leading anymore.

I have moved my main toon, the paladin "Becky", into a raiding guild called "Blue Star Raiders". Kindred's not disbanding, my alts will remain in the Kin. But neither is Kin going to be looking for new players, so we are no longer a "progressing" guild. So for our current members, there are a number of options.

1) You can choose to remain in the Kin. All ranks now have the ability to repair using the guild bank and everyone's welcome to remain as long as they would like. I'm uncertain how the alliance works now, but I presume Delirium's going to turn his full attention toward his guild now rather than worrying about the alliance. And that's right and appropriate for him to do so.

2) You can whisper Delirium and ask to join Maidens of the Dawn. I think he'll welcome most people with open arms and the Maidens are good folk. All of that, however, is up to him.

3) You can consider joining Blue Star Raiders. However, they're mostly looking for geared people to run instance from what I understand. Also, I think you have to be at least 21 years old to join. Their Web page is at: http://bluestar.dkpsystem.com/news.php

4) Anything else you can think of. :P

Thank you everyone for playing in The Kindred. I hope you have wonderful success in the game and out of it, whatever you choose to do. It has been a mostly fun couple of years. And remember, just because we've got a different guild name under our toon names doesn't mean we can't talk and do things in-game together. Guilds really aren't THAT big of a deal, but the people and friendships are.

Thank you again.

Love and peace,

Minimum Stat Recommendations for Naxx

Posted by Bekk on 08-Jan-09 03:52pm

Okay, here's a list I've found for some minimum stat recommendations to raid Naxx as promised. Not sure how accurate these are, so comments are welcome and appreciated. THANKS!

Naxxramas Raid Minimum Fear/Stat Requirements

Tanks:

• Defense Rating: 540 (Defense Cap)

• Health: 25,000

• Armor: 21,000

DPS

• 1.2k dps... 1.5k preferred

• Classes whose dps depends on attack power (such as rogues and fury warriors) should have at least 2.5k Attack Power.

• Classes whose dps depends on Spell Power (such as warlocks and mages) should have at least 1,350 Spell Power.

• DPS should have at least 75-percent of the 'to hit' cap. (I have no idea what this mean exactly, but I'd say make sure your hit rating's pretty good. Any comments that can shed more light on this would be much appreciated).

Healers

• A minimum of 1,400 bonus healing

• 160 mana regeneration per 5 seconds

At least one resto druid and/or shaman recommended due to many bosses use of poison.

Getting Better all the Time

Posted by Bekk on 27-Oct-08 04:00pm

Sunday was, simply put, wonderful as the ASG went against High King Maulgar and Gruul.

With it, we achieved things which some of us have been working toward for quite a long time (far too long in my opinion, but I'm stubborn).

Let's take a look at what's going on within The Kindred and the ASG alliance.

On Sunday, we were able to pull together more than 20 people--excluding one of the raiders, they were all from one of the guilds in the asg alliance. Really, really cool. What's more, there were quite a few who had never raided before at all, and we were able to give them a taste of what it's like--and school them a little of standard raid techniques such as making sure the tanks have established aggro before beginning attacks.

It resulted in the deaths of both the High King ogre and Gruul. Ten of us also took out Tenris Murkblood, the new boss in Karazhan.

Now, I'm well aware all raids have been nerfed. But there's a reason why that's happened, and we're going to take full advantage of it over the next several weeks until the expansion. That means, if you want to raid, we're going to do everything in our power to make sure you can. Ideally, you'll be level 70, but if you're not and we have slots open and the instance allows a lower level--you're in.

This could lead to more members joining the guild, but whether or not that happens is irrelevant. We really don't need a whole lot more members as we have enough to do pretty much what we want to do as it is. Of course, we can never have too many healers--we're not the only guild like that, I can assure you.

In fact, we have some members joining who have seen more of the high-end game content than I have--such as Sunwell Plateau and Black Temple--and they've joined knowing exactly what kind of guild we are because we offer a relatively stress free environment to play in without expecting our members to raid while containing a large population of players to pull from and attempt to get things accomplished. Boy, that was sure a mouthful.

Attempting to continue our aim at success, we need to a)keep recruiting at the slow pace we have been with about 1-3 players every two weeks...we especially need more druids and rogues at all specs as well as death knights once the expansion hits; and b) try to draw more people to the Website here.

Funny thing about guild Websites. Most guild populations do not frequent them. We used to require joining our old forums when people joined the guild, but all that resulted in was a high roster with very few checking the site. I hope that by encouraging it, and people signing up at their own free will, that the rosters will actually reflect how much the sites are being accessed. It just offers a little more things we can do within the game.

To reiterate add-ons we use (primarily for raiders): Group Calendar (I personally remain in favor of using the new in-game calendar), Omen threat meter, and Deadly Boss Mods.

I'll see you in-game. Fight the Scourge!

Wrath Updates

Posted by Bekk on 24-Oct-08 04:11pm

Last time Bliz released a WoW expansion (The Burning Cursade, duh), I did a 10-day countdown with a little bit of information in it each day and we slowly marched from Stormwind (SW) to the Dark Portal in the Blasted Lands.

This time's different though.

Since we'll be taking boats from SW or Menethil Harbor, a march isn't necessarily needed. What I intend to do, if there are enough people to make it interesting, is instead of our first journey into Northrend being from one of those two places--we'll instead storm into PvP and hop on one of ht Horde's zeppelins and fly over. But I'll want to have a minimum of at least five players to do this and make it an event. If I have to do it alone, then I will--but that's how I'm going to make my first journey into the expansion...ya know, cas I'm crazy like that.

And, instead of a countdown, I'm going to use updates for this new world event spreading this new zombie disease.

Today's update comes from mmo-champion. It involves a brand spanking new boss in Karazhan. (Remember, these are updates to things which are or soon to be in the world event leading up to Wrath of the Lich King). Visit the link for some pictures and one of the drops from this boss. AND POST IN GUILD CHAT FOR PEOPLE TO VISIT asg.gamerdna.com!!!!

WotLK World Event - New boss in Karazhan ?
This is NOT active on live servers for the moment. It looks like one of the upcoming phase of the WotLK world event will feature a new boss located in Karazhan: Prince Tenris Mirkblood. Tenris is part of . The San'layn is a faction of darkfallen, renegade elves from Quel'Thalas under the rule of the Lich King.

The quest
Chamber of Secrets
The Argent Dawn Emissary wants you to search the chamber of Tenris Mirkblood within the Servant's Quarters of Karazhan.

Description
Excellent, an experienced adventurer. Precisely what we need. There has been talk from the Kirin Tor guarding Medivh's tower that something is amiss with Karazhan. There is a new power lurking within, one that answers neither to the Guardian's magic nor the Legion. From what they've scouted, it appears it is an elven prince called Tenris Mirkblood, and there is reason to believe he serves the Scourge.

Go, my friend, investigate Mirkblood's chamber, and return with any information you might find.

This quest is indeed in game and you can actually take a look at it by using the following command (but you won't be able to link it in chat until it's active on servers) : /script DEFAULT_CHAT_FRAME:AddMessage("Murlocs are awesome, this quest too: \124cffffff00\124Hquest:12616:70\124h[Chamber of Secrets]\124h\124r");

Prince Tenris Murkblood is also in game but you can't spawn him for the moment (and won't be until it's "unlocked" in the event).

The quest seems to be given by an Argent Dawn Emissary near Karazhan. It doesn't look like this NPC is activated on live servers for the moment.

Next update comes from wowinsider.com. Just a little visual that apparently was put into the game when the disease started spreading. Near the Scarlet Monastery, the grave of Arthas' steed has been dug up. Visit the image gallery here to read his tombstone.

The Scourge is upon Us

Posted by Bekk on 23-Oct-08 03:05pm

Brethren,
I beg you to watch your steps. A disease of unspeakable terror is upon us and turning all it touches into wretched horrors who live by feeding off the living. Rumor has it that the disease started from mysterious crates covered in runes, it spreads if you're touched by one who has been changed.

All is no lost, however. Agents of the Argent Dawn, healers have arrived in the cities who can cleanse the disease away. Unfortunately, there are some reports that it is mutating and that it may end as being unhealable.

There is much concern this is Arthas at work. You will recall how, when the disease in the plaguelands began spreading, he began killing infected people to prevent them from changing, leading the mighty paladin down a path he would not return from.

Guard yourselves in the vestment of the light. Dispel the disease from the infected and fight back the scourge.

Light help us all.

-Kindred Guild Master Becky

(Or, if you're so inclined, become infected and spread the disease. The first world event in years is upon us. Go out and have some fun! Lead infected zombie raids on cities or fight back the scourge. You'll have to keep killing and eating if you change to a zombie because your health continually goes down--some have reported switching helms every so often stops it, but that is unconfirmed and likely will be, or had already been, hot-fixed.)

In other news--the ASG run into Zul Aman last night was great. We made it to the last boss, Zul'Jin, but only attempted him once due to the hour getting late. Join us!

Download the latest version of group calendar if you have not yet done so. We will hopefully have an event in the near future to celebrate the world event.
