Today, Tomorrow, and the Future

Posted by Defiantsage on 09-Mar-09 09:42am

I'm going to go ahead and throw some of my opinions/ideas out there about what I think we need, because while we are achieving great things in terms of progression and achievements... we seriously lack unity, equity, and a common direction. I say all this with the utmost respect to all guild members and I ask that everyone read this full post with an open mind because it applies to everyone.

To start I suggest redoing the ranking system again to be less degrading to those that don't get to raid as much as they would like. With that said it's also true that everyone must understand that raid spots are highly competitive and therefore when you have the chance to raid you MUST be prepared with food, flasks, elixirs, and of course your A-game. In addition, know your class and your spec as well as any/all boss encounters ahead of raid time. No one is going to hold you hand during progression, so don't expect it during "Kara". Yet, in order to keep the guild moving in the direction that we all want to go everyone has to participate and everyone has to support the GUILD... not just the main raid groups. Let's give everyone a chance to join progression and gear up. Please understand that if you are not raiding every time you are still a valuable guild member. That's all I should need to say as far as raiding is concerned... which is really not why I'm posting.

My greater concerns rest with the leadership. As an officer myself I can see the divisions in the guild better than most. And everyone knows they exist. We need to change that guys. We are all friends and most of you have been together a long time and despite the fact that we may disagree on many things we can not let it cause pointless arguments. I'm not going to single anyone out or even allude to specific events, we know there are problems. We know what the problems are and the simple solution is compromise, that's what people have to do when we share leadership like this, regardless of one's delegation or rank everyone has a stake in this guild and no one wants it to fail. Stop the elitism, stop the favoritism, stop the selfishness, stop bitching at each other and get the fuck over whatever egotistical issues you have. We have to work together to be successful and let's make the game fun again... it shouldn't feel like work. Everyone please grow up, officers and all.

For your benefit I promise all the members of this guild that your leaders will get beyond the petty squabbling and lead you to success. But we will still need your help. Again you are expected to pull your weight, we try hard and we need the same effort from you... if you need help do not hesitate to ask, I repeat, do not hesitate to ask someone. We all want to go far and we need everyone doing their best. If that means trading a few people out for certain bosses to get people gear, or doing farm content to help your fellow guildies to gear up, the very same people that helped you gear up... then so be it. That's how these things must work.

As well, the officers are currently talking over the chain of command and more specifics will be given later and everyone needs to be aware of how things work... again this will avoid confusion and drama. And don't be worried everyone will be given plently of leniency in terms of how to play, but recommendations will be given, and should raid performance be suffering it will be dealt with accordingly. Again, more specifics related to this issue will be given at a later date.

As for the future, I fully intend for us to be server first in Ulduar as many of us do and we have that potential. Let's get beyond the current drama and leave it behind us. Let's all get on the same page and on the same level to avoid drama in the future. Let's help each other out without stepping on any toes. The most threatening problem any guild faces is not in a dungeon it's within itself. If we can solve the issues now we should have no problems later on. Personal problems between players of varying personalities are going to occur... work it out diplomatically.

On a side note achievements are all in all unrelated to progression, unless of course there is a case like 3D Sartharion. We all know that some are more concerned with achievements than others and we must respect that... this means that at some point should raid composition be changed specifically to earn achievements it should not be until after/near final progression, at which point everyone that has done their part will have most if not all the gear they desire. This should eliminate any tension over the issue of stacking groups without leaving others behing. Everyone that is capable of getting achievements and wants achievements will be given chances to get them.

Succession is IMO the best guild on this server... we sport many of the most geared players, most talented players, and most achieved players. May our growing tradition of excellence continue far into the future....

Ranks and new Raider System

Posted by Rakdoz on 02-Mar-09 03:13am

All members of the guild, of any rank, are expected to pull their weight.
Raiders will be more closely controlled... we want a team of 25-30 players who all do their best to allow us to compete when it comes to progression.

If you are not pulling your weight, you will not be a raider.

Raider:  You will be part of our cycle for raiding.  You will not make EVERY raid, but you WILL get an even shot at every boss that you need.  You MUST show up for every raid or at least give notice, and you MUST do your best.

Member: You're good enough, but due to seniority or because you aren't the absolute best option, you're not in our regular rotation.  You will have the opportunity to raid whenever there is a spot, but spots will not be held for you.

Initiate:  You are being tried out for a raider spot.  You are not guaranteed a spot, and if you suck, you will become a social.

Social:  Not entitled to 25-man raids.  You are there because we find your antics amusing.

Alt:  You are an alt.

Officer:  Raiders and below should RESPECT!  Don't be a whore to officers.  Officers are there to help you! And to kick your ass when you suck.  Listen to them!

Guardian:  Part of the oligarchy.  Guardians are the absolute power in the guild.

Succession now the #1 raiding guild on Anub'arak!

Posted by SaladFork on 23-Feb-09 01:50pm

Although we are the third guild to down Sartharion25 with 3 drakes, we are the first on our server to do the harder encounter -- Sartharion10 with 3 drakes. That, in addition to other heroic achievements such as Safety Dance and Spore Loser have shot us into the position of the #1 raiding guild on Anub'arak, and in the top 2000 for the world!

Three Drake Pwnt

Posted by Rakdoz on 18-Feb-09 11:02am

Yeah, we got it. Took so much time to brag about it in trade chat that I'm just getting to posting about it now... half a week after the fact.

EDIT: The night falls on Succession... but in a good way.  All content clear.
