The Ancient Art of Leeching

Posted by MarcObsidian on 19-Dec-09 04:39am

Now as some of you may have noticed we occasionally find ourselves leeching off of others. In other words we find ourselves the recepients of a plvl when the one providing it was unaware that we would show up as we did. I wanted to address a bit of protocol that you must abide by when 'professionally' leeching.

1. Don't AFK
2. Protect the Squishies with your life
3. Don't be argumentative or make suggestions (Be Quiet)
4. Participate (Hit for 1 and practice your moves for when you grow)
5. Be kind, considerate, and pay attention (no wandering off, etc)
6. Don't constantly die (like me) and draw attention to yourself

You see the other players in the party are trying to ignore the fact that you're leeching. It only brings attention to yourself when you don't follow the above rules. It's bad form to AFK when you're already useless to the party. Everyone needs to pee, drink, etc and that's understandable; however, it doesn't take more then 2-3 minutes to do any of these things. Say 'brb' and 'back' when leaving and returning. Common courtesy is important because I guarantee you that at least one person in the party is thinking about getting rid of you at the first opportunity. (ususally more than one especially the priest who's working their but off).

Now, we all have a secret desire to be the leech in every party to level as quickly as possible. However, I've only seen a few players to be able to achieve this for more than 20-30 levels. That might seem like a lot but now that player is 'unwelcome' by many of the folks that he leeched off.

I'm not endorsing leeching, but I am saying that it will happen. When it does, then behave yourself. It's out of the goodness of the other party members hearts that you remain.

P.S. Don't get annoyed when people leech off of you! Remember that you've had your times when you were the one hitting for 1 or critting for 1. Now I must admit that until recently I've not experienced the joys of leeching much myself(I've played defs, mages, priests a lot); but I realize that it happens and that it isn't a 'bad' thing unless it occurs constantly.

Now, for those of you who say 'I NEVER LEECHED', I would simply have to point out that that is an impossibility in almost ALL cases. In other words, we all are the weakest link somewhere. The party doesn't want to stay at the low level mobs just because you can damage them. They want to go to the strongest mobs with the most XP that the party can handle quickly and easily. That means that your leeching helps the party, rofl. Now we might say 'I've only been a defender or a priest!'. That makes sense that you're doing work, however I'd ask you to consider that you can't kill anything, so you must be depending on someone to kill the stuff for you which sounds like leeching to me!

So....it's all a matter of perspective right?

Say I'm a level 59 mage and I afk all the time, or a level 50 mage which is there all the time....which is the leech?

Say I'm a level 40 priest with a level 35 fighter....which is the leech?

Say I'm a level 59 defender with a level 49 mage....which is the leech?

Your answer is: It's the one I'm not in my opinion! So as we follow the path of the leech let's be kind, considerate, and most of all careful not to get kicked at the first opportunity!

Be Good and have fun,

Marc Obsidian

When to link lapis

Posted by Otomi on 21-Feb-09 10:07pm

well depends of the amount of bless:

Almost full bless is better link boots there is better chance for it:

% exp gained bar % of bless
(--------------------)......................................(-///////////////////)
almost full or when bless go down at this amount

Late of that are gauntlets/gloves:

% exp gained bar % of bless
(--------------------)......................................(------//////////////)

Next are pants, is lesser than half:

% exp gained bar % of bless
(--------------------)......................................(-----------////////)

Late of pants are upper armor:

% exp gained bar % of bless
(--------------------)......................................(--------------/////)

Finally the weapons:

% exp gained bar % of bless
(--------------------)......................................(-----------------//)

Remember what you can still breaking lapises, unfortunally i couldnt find the bless for accesories, helms and shileds, i hope you can enjoy more the game now what you get some useful info ^^. Anyway an OP hammer will be really useful when you attemp to link, good luck and have fun.
