Mandokarla...the team
Posted by Houzukimaru on 22-Jan-09 05:37am The team was founded in April 2008 under the name "Sea Sparrows." The name was randomly thrown out there by myself while we were trying to decide what to call outselves, I know this name from my time in the U.S. Navy, the RIM-7 Sea Sparrow point defense system. It's basically a small missile fired from a navy ship. The founding members were Houzukimaru (Haitakamaru), Adenn Werda (Mirdala), KasilK13 (Kando Tor), and AttackoftheZack. Later additions were Ryuishi (an old friend from Houzukimaru's list) and The Peanut Dude (found through the "Looking for Players" thread in the Grifball forums). We have cycled the last 2 open slots with no less than 7 players, most played 1 game, a few played none. After a decent showing in the GBSML08 seasom, making it to round 3 of the playoffs, we went to Legacy for GBWL09, changed out name to IK Mandokarla (Mirdala and myself were on a bit of a Mandolorian / Star Wars run at the time) and promply got out guts ripped out and handed to us, finishing 4th out of 6 in the division, with Team Canadia Eh?, Project 86, and Fizzlewinkie above us. We are still happy with the name and like the meaning, but are always toying with the idea of a new name.
Between Sept. and Jan. we were with the clan Imperial Kings, which Peanut Dude introduced us to. I like the clan mostly on the whole required maturity / age limit thing, the reason for leaving is documented elsewhere. During that time, Houzukimaru became IK Tihaar, Adenn Werda became IK Tal Aran, and KasilK13 became IK Kando Tor. Also during that time, Peanut burned himself out on Grifball (before he had an incrediable drive to always play it) and went to another division of the clan to become an actual high ranking officer and doing something he said he would never do...he changed his name to IK Peanut Dude. I was in charge of the Grifball Division, and we had the most members of any division and were the most active in the clan, but we had no actual ranks, while the other divisions had your rank showed by your primary armor color, all Grifball players were Silver, and while I had a seat on the council, I was like Anakin Skywalker in Episode III, I could listen in and give my divisions thoughts on matters, but I had no actual say in anything.
Which brings us up to the present as of this posting. Read More | Comments: 0
