Hello everyone,

Unfortunately, our experiment with Counter-Strike: Source has failed. We regret to inform all members that the CS-S Branch of 51/50 has been shut down.

Our goal with the expansions was to ensure the continuity of the Clan independently from the future of HL2-DM. Our view is that what we have here in 51/50 is bigger than any one game. Sadly, our expansion to CS-S had some fundamental flaws that were never properly addressed and some of them simply couldn't be fixed. And all those things led to the closing of that branch.

However, we will not give up on the idea of expanding the Clan to other games. We feel that even though HL2-DM is fun as hell to play, especially with our friends in this Clan, it is an old game and it will not last forever. So why not expand to cover newer games and continue this great thing we have here?

Anyway, Legend was the person who was leading our CS:S Branch and he left to revive his old SK Clan in Counter-Strike: Source. Those of you who play CS-S and would like to join the SK Clan or any other clan in CS-S are welcome to do so. We don't have a no clan hopping policy for games in which we don't have a presence.

If you guys have questions or comments, please feel free to reply to your post. But one thing we'd like to make very clear: this Clan is doing very well, thank you very much. It's not because we closed a branch that we're all of a sudden worried about the future. That branch had been inactive for quite some time. So don't worry, keep playing and keep participating on the web site. We have a bright future ahead of us.

I want to let everyone know that our Stats & Server Ranks page (to the left there, on the main menu) has been updated. The HLstatsX and GameTracker information, as well as the IP Addresses, have been corrected for all seven 51/50 servers. Check it out when you have a chance.

We have some exciting news. We have created a new ranking system for The [51/5Ø] Clan. It's already on the web site, so if you click on Ranking System in the menu, you'll see it. The reasons behind this change are basically two: 1) we needed to fix some things in the old ranking system that were inconsistent with the way we promote and even look at the ranks, and 2) we wanted to shake things up and make it our own. We based it on ancient Roman military ranks, so there's an underlying structure behind the ranking system:

Here are the new ranks:

[51/5Ø]|R| Recruit (replaces the old R1 and R2)
[51/5Ø]|T| Trainee (replaces the old T1 and T2)
[51/5Ø]|A| Auxiliarius (replaces the old S)
[51/5Ø]|L| Legionary (replaces the old D)
[51/5Ø]|G| Gladiator (replaces the old L)
[51/5Ø]|P| Praetorian (replaces the old O)
[51/5Ø]|D| Decurion (replaces the old W)
[51/5Ø]|C| Centurion (replaces the old M)
[51/5Ø]|H| Herculiani (replaces the old C)
[51/5Ø]|I| Imperator (Clan Leaders)

We also added a new rank for the Clan Leaders (Imperator). It is not a skill level, but purely a rank based on authority.

So, go ahead and change your tags. To find your new tag, just look for your current rank on the list above and change it to the new letter. For example, if you are currently an Overlord |O|, you become a Praetorian |P|, so just change the O to a P.

Another thing we want to stress is that we want to see consistency in the tags. Do not alter the tags. Copy them from here or from the Ranking System page and don't change the characters. There are still some members with wrong tags out there: Legend and Gunchuck come to mind. Please copy the tag from here, which will include the character Ø for the [51/5Ø].

We will be checking on everyone to make sure they are wearing the right tags. If you wear your rank in your Steam name, please change it as well. Again, you are not required to wear tags in your Steam name, but if you do, don't forget to change it.

I hope everybody likes the new ranking system. Now go out and take those new tags for a spin! 

The stats and server rankings for sv3 killbox_tower and sv4 snipe_eye2 have been reset. everyone starts new with a rank of 0 and 1,000 points. we are tired of the point whoring (from our clan and others). we are tired of seeing "rank" or "session" everytime certain individuals get killed. we are tired of seeing teamstacking cuz no one wants to even the teams. we are tired of seeing people leave the server cuz they don't want to give up their points.

If this is the way you want to play, then maybe this clan is not for you.    [51/50] was founded on the idea that we are a group of friends who enjoy playing together to increase skill ingame, not to get and keep as many points as possible.

now, everyone has a chance to be #1, all you have to do is play.

I wanted to let you all know of a change in server policy. I don't even know if the word "policy" applies. It's more like a new attitude.

The thing is we're a pretty fortunate clan in the sense that some of our members have consistently invested money, time, and effort in order to provide all of us and all players out there a fun place to game. And all that has given us 7 servers across three different games. That is an awesome thing, and something I'm willing to fight hard to preserve.

But I'm sure all of you know that we do this gladly. Our goal is to offer you a fun place to play these games. And we're going to continue doing this for as long as we can. However, one thing we're sick of putting up with are the people whose main goal seems to be sucking the fun out of the game. So we decided that players who come to our servers to ruin the gaming experience of our members and guests will no longer be welcome. We just value our servers and players too much to allow a few bad apples to spoil the whole pie.

We will be putting up a new Message Of The Day on all our servers tomorrow and we will exercise our right to keep the 51/50 servers asshole-free.

We really don't want to become like the Clan of Killerz, who seems to relish every single ban. But we will not hesitate to get rid of a few jerks who insist on making it not fun for all of us. We also won't have a list of rules. The policy is simple: Be a bastard... get banned. And believe me when I tell you... the people I'm referring to KNOW that what they do is wrong. Still, they continue to point-whore, teamstack, teamkill, compulsively camp, be verbally abusive, disrespect, and so forth and so on. The end result: they drive people off our servers and ruin the fun of those who stay. So who needs them? Certainly not us.

I hope you all see that this move is designed to maintain a fun environment and relieve some of the headaches for the server owners and admins. I have a feeling we will all be better off after we surgically remove the rotten eggs.
