Entertaining....yet I feel a twinge of worry that the reverse is just on the horizon, namely advertising embedded in our online games. I could just see after downing a dragon, an in-game message or such...."Portions of this dragon were brought to you by Coca-cola. It's the Real Thing."
From a marketing perspective, I think it was very nicely established and creatively impressive. As a 34yr old mother of 3 who games with my husband, I think more of our generation plays than one might think, especially us military families ... its a great way to keep entertainment together from a distance, so the next big commercial will be Military Recruitments like Halo. However, all in all, I think as the younger generation grows older, they will only be more and more of society playing these games and therefore, more and more commercials as this will be brought to the surface. Toyota and Coke Cola are just trying to set the trend for this new type of advertising.
WoW has a very diverse player base...it isn't just pasty 16-20 somethings plastered to their computer screens. I guarantee that the marketing people for Toyota looked at the demographic data before making that commercial. Whether it will be an effective approach is certainly debatable! I thought the commercial was moderately entertaining, no more and no less. I am considering a Tacoma anyway, and the commercial will in no way influence my decision on my upcoming truck purchase

Thanks Toyota for making MMO's look cool instead of some weird anti-social geekfest. Pretty lol-worthy and from an interesting source, a freaking wow-toyota commercial.
It was definitely Toyota that put out this commercial. I saw it played a few times during NFL games yesterday. It is another Toyota Tacoma commercial like the one they did with Nessie in Loch Ness Lake. I wonder how much Toyota paid Blizzard to put this together.
Nicely done, but dragon blood has to be hard on the paintjob. Hurts resale value, and all that.
Also, keep your eyes peeled on YouTube for RL WOW-ers to attempt this stunt with a papier-mache dragon and their real car, a blue 1992 Cavalier with amateurishly-painted flames on the side. You heard it here first!
