Perpetual Out As Star Trek Online Developer
Submitted by Hades-LotD 700 days ago on Star Trek Online
tagged as hot 700 days ago
Attributed to "multiple sources" at P2/Perpetual, this unconfirmed report says the license and "game's content" (presumably art assets) have been transferred to a different Bay-area developer (which is not named), but the game code remains at Perpetual/P2, suggesting this game's eventual release is still a long way off.

Entry 3.0 focuses on concept art and vision. Just looking at some of the artwork gives me a nice warm, fuzzy feeling! Like tribbles, but without the mess.

There is a reference in here toward a tie in with the next ST movie. I hope they at least make it worth while if they do drink that cool-aid, and not make it too forced.

StarTrek:Online interview from MMORPG.com
Submitted by BLZBUB 785 days ago on Star Trek Online
Jon Wood interview with Chris McKibbin and Daron Stinnett from perpetual Entertainment, explaining why Gods & Heroes was put on 'hold', and the new status of their StarTrek:Online MMORPG.
“Why then,” I asked, “was Gods & Heroes in particular chosen of the three for the hold?” “Getting G&H to the level of quality and polish we demand was going to take more time - which is not in any way unique in the MMO world - but it would have had an adverse impact on our other opportunities,” he said. He went on to explain why each of the other projects was kept: “The Platform Business is the base for anything [we] do and is what the company was founded on, so it is necessary. Weighing the market potential of G&H versus STO, we all believe that while G&H had good market potential, STO has phenomenal market potential.”

“One reason we made this decision is to insure our success with Star Trek,” Stinnett said when I asked him for a response to theories of STO’s demise (which seem to be greatly exaggerated). “It's a very important license that deserves a world class effort and we wanted to make sure that we could focus on delivering to player's expectations. I'll add that the world-wide market potential of an MMO based on Star Trek is colossal and it is hard to imagine ever [not] coming to the same decision.”
