The new team posted a news about the next step started today:
All accounts (even unsubbed) are now allowed to play the game and all trial accounts now have the level cap removed and they can even leave the starting island to join the mainland. This kind of access is still free of charge as account creation and billing system is still disabled.

Ryzom: Welcome Home!

New owners of Ryzom, finally, have posted today some news regarding the upcoming reopening of the game.
While they are working hard to the new assets, the game will first reopen for a limited free time to anyone that had an active account when the game was closed, and later whole Atys will be reopened to everyone.
