Ahem. "tried to fix it on his own based on tips he found online". Why didn't he post the video to youtube, that's what I want to know.

He should have used mineral oil. It is non conductive and would do a good job at cooling. People have modded fish tanks filled with mineral oil to hold complete computers, the idea isn't anything new.
