People need it because games are still not fully socially accepted.

I remember back when Dungeons and Dragons was fairly new, it was a matter of received wisdom that D&D players were more violent, suicidal and Satanic than normal. (In fact, research was done on roleplaying game players, and it was found that they were far *less* violent than population averages, but that didn't stop opponents from continuing to spread misinformation).

Gah... Why is it that the general public needs analysts to point out what is fairly obvious to anyone with half a brain? Gaming and violence are about as connected as violence and milkshakes... Just because someone is a sociopathic killer, who just happens to like milkshakes, does not mean that milk shakes make you a sociopathic killer. You'd probably have better success blaming that on a an abusive childhood and general failure in life, instead of milkshakes.

It's quite odd really, but it's also quite clear that every time someone blames gaming for violent behaviour, a kitten dies somewhere.

Think of the kittens!

Now I'm just waiting for someone to come up with an analysis to scientifically prove me wrong, otherwise I'm right. =p
